Writing Assignment 2

<Chapter 3 : Optimism and Reality>

Answer for Expedition Log 1-2

I think I am completely an optimist. So when I faced with adversity or potential setback, I always try to accept these matters as positive things. For example, when I  was involved in trouble among team members, I thought that "if we can deal with this trouble, we can be much better company!". I believe that by changing the way to interpret the matters, I can deal with the matters in a positive mood. In addition, I often talk to myself unconsciously whatever indifferent things or for cheering me up. I was surprised at the words " "self-talk" is......the first step in cultivating optimism...."(p42) at the same time, I got the confidence that I am an optimist ;p

I guess my optimistic view resulted from the saddest experience I had ; I lost my father when I was 14. I had hard days before he died and after his death. In those days, I didn't want to be more depressed because depression gave me nothing but more depression and can change nothing. I believe that this my saddest experience game me a power to think maters in a positive way and have an optimistic view.

    It's nice to have a complete optimistic view.
    You can ensure in whatever situation you have.

    I think your father is satisfied with the fact that you are a positive thinker^^!

  3. Hi Tomoko,

    I agree with Kaoru and Tomoko about being optimistic, and I am so impressed that you have turned such a difficult negative (losing your father at a very difficult stage of life) into a growth opportunity for yourself.

    Many great leaders had to overcome similar difficult events in their lives——somehow they made them stronger.

    Thanks for sharing that.
